Cycling Events you might wish to consider...

Postby Phil Evans » Fri Feb 28, 2014 4:17 pm

As Club Secretary I quite often get emails from BC, CTC and other parties telling me about events that may be of interest to Coventry Road Club members. As there is no easy way to pass these on I thought I'd start a thread where I can drop in the relevant info for members to read.

8th Midlands Women’s TT Series

We have just launched an exciting new website for the 8th Midlands Women’s TT Series which takes place this season from March to August and includes six established local 10-mile time trials. All female cyclists (over the age of 12) are encouraged to come and take part, whatever their level of performance or previous experience of time trialling. All you need is a road-worthy bike – a specific TT machine is definitely not a requirement. This is the place to meet other women who like to rise to a challenge and see how fast they can go on a bike. Everyone is welcome!

Entries to the Series and to the individual events can be made online through the website.

We also have a Facebook page so anyone who ‘Likes’ that page can easily get fresh updates and news about the Series.

Please let all the women in your club know about the Series and please also display this on your website or club forum.

Thank you in advance.

Midlands Women’s TT Series Organiser

Bike for Peace Tour 2014

Dear Coventry Road Club,

I'm hoping that you'll be interested in participating in the upcoming 'Bike for Peace' tour, which arrives in Britain in March. Bike for Peace is a Norwegian campaign who are cycling around the world to promote peace and disarmament. They are coming to Britain from 14-18 March, and will be stopping in Manchester, Coventry, London, and Dover. I hope our friends from Norway will be pleased with the reception they get in Britain, and I'd encourage you to join them for some or all of the tour!

The main organiser, Tore Naerland, is a partially sighted cyclist who will be undertaking the tour on a tandem - a fantastic achievement!

If you’d like to get involved, or promote the tour to your contacts, full details can be found at .

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me, and we look forward to your support and enthusiasm.

Best wishes,
Anne Schulthess

CC Giro Midland Monster.

Dear Club Secretary

I am writing to you to ask for your support in promoting our Midland Monster Events which will take place on 18th May 2014 at the Rosliston Forestry Centre. Burton on Trent.

As usual, the event will be supporting the "Air Ambulance Trust." The trust works hard in installing landing pads at hospitals to allow the Air ambulances to land. Over the past few years we have given over
£4,000 to the trust as we believe that everyone could potentially need the services of the Air Ambulance. Ironically, we had to call for the air ambulance during last years event, despite numerous warning signs!!! So, you never know when you may have need of the big bird in the sky!

We offer you and your club members:-
Free Parking at the event HQ.
2 feeds for the longer 2 rides. 1 for the Mini Monster.
Post ride food and drink.
Fully signed routes.
Marshalls at key junctions.
Timing chips.
Support of PowerBar.
Challenging routes with great scenery.
The satisfaction you are helping a very worthy cause.

You can enter on the British Cycling web-site.

Have a look that this link to see feedback from previous events.

A summary of all the details are on the British Cycling website or the Cyclosportive website.

You can also search CC Giro Midland Monster to see other supporting information.

Can I ask that you share this information with your clubs members and help us to potentially help you.

Thanks for your support

Kind Regards

Dave Bond

Cycle to breakfast - Tardebigge Community Centre, Worcestershire.

Hi,
I am writing to invite your cycle group to ride to breakfast at Tardebigge Community Centre, Worcestershire. On Saturday 8th March the Bromsgrove Farmers Club are holding a Big Breakfast in aid of Cancer Research UK and The Primrose Hospice. and will be serving breakfast between 8.30am to midday. No set price just a donation. I have attached a poster if you could pass it around your group that would be great. Why not organise a group to cycle over and enjoy breakfast before cycling home again. Breakfast is served until midday but don't worry you can stay and enjoy it in a nice atmosphere until ready to cycle on again. If a large group will be attending please ring Helen or Sarah and let them know so they have an idea of the numbers.
many thanks
Melanie
